Danny Sullivan's Departure From Search Engine Watch

Danny Sullivan
Having only been in the SEO business for a little over a year, I've had very little time to become acquainted with the names and faces so commonly attached to the echelons of search engine marketing. Danny Sullivan was certainly one of the first names I came to revere, along with his Search Engine Watch property and the Search Engine Strategies conference series, which I finally got to attend a few weeks ago when it took place in San Jose.

Having just come to fully appreciate the significance of the man in our industry, I was naturally shocked when I read about his departure from SEW over at Daggle, his blog, earlier today.
"I explained these reservations at the very beginning of my relationship with Incisive, that I needed some long-term incentive for helping them continue to grow and strengthen the site and conferences. After over a year of talks, that's failed to materialize. As a result, I'm departing."

Danny went on to talk about his feelings on the move.
"I love both the site and the conference series. I hate to say goodbye to them. They've also been good to me. I've done very well financially and enjoyed plenty of personal satisfaction through them. I've written things that people have told me have helped them immensely. At our conferences, it's great to hear from so many people that they've learned a lot or far more than they were expecting."

Danny Sullivan is probably the nicest and most respected SEO in the business. He has become a defacto leader of the search engine optimization world, with an unparalleled level of insight and knowledge. He is always approachable, always inspirational, and always on top of the latest developments.

Incisive Media, the company which owns SEW, has likely underestimated the value of the man. Where ever Danny goes, the SEO community will follow. It's not the property of SEW and the SES series that demands our respect and attention, it's Danny Sullivan.
